What is an average salary for an AE in NYC? Or better yet what % raise should I ask for when moving from an AAE to AE?

Ahhh young, grasshopper. Expecting a big raise I see. So young and brimming with optimism. A few realities to have in your head: - you won’t get to “ask” for a raise if this is an internal promotion. You will be told what you get when it happens. - if you do get a raise, I wouldn’t expect more than 15% or so at the high end. That’s why people make strategic jumps in agency world. Normally bigger money comes from moves. - there’s a chance you won’t get a raise when you get promoted with a promise it comes later. That will suck if it happens. But get them to agree to an amount then and have it put on paper by HR. Lastly, an AE in NY can make anywhere from $45K to $65K. Good luck. And congrats on the impending promotion!

Not sure where Managing Director 1 works, but if you’re not happy with your raise, you should immediately have that conversation with your supervisor. When I was promoted from AAE to AE, they tried to just casually tell me the amount and moved on with the conversation. I pushed back and was prepared to have the conversation of why I was worth more. I ended up getting the additional money I asked for. If you’re worth it and you ask for it, you just might get it. Good luck!

Recently promoted from AAE to AE with a little over a 20% raise. Though as you know that makes our salary as a junior person just a little more livable.
