IMO, LE needs to do more to encourage and enable the victims of sexual assault to report to the police. Rape is by far (there isn't even a close second) the most under reported crime. We need to do more to help the victims and to make sure we are approachable. Recent studies have shown (I'm not going to look up links, too busy) that one in four female college students have had unwanted sexual contact. This is a huge issue for LE and society in general.
Increasing uncertainty on which actions are constitutional and which are not.
It seems like now more than ever I can never guess which way courts are going to rule on these issues.
It really puts LEOs in a tough spot. No one wants to violate the constitution but there are situations where it's impossible to know.
Finding a common ground to relate and communicate with the disenfranchised 20 somethings. These are no longer people of lower socio-economic means with little resources, but people from middle to upper class income/families/up bringing with plenty of resources. Historically this class has been the most supportive of policing and anti-crime initiatives, they're now quickly becoming the most vocal opponents. There needs to be more programming aimed at this demographic to engage them under positive pretenses. Typical youth outreach programs wouldn't apply to this group. I think social media awareness could play a key role, but there needs to be actual interaction as well.
