NTAs do not teach. They are typically there to deal with behavioral issues. You see them a lot in alternative schools.
But do they aid the teacher in the classroom? I've been seeing offers where NTA's are helping outside of the classroom. So I'm wondering if they can help inside the rooms as well
We have a lot of behavioral issues in regular school too. Students with extremely Disruptive or Unsafe behaviors are at times offered para/NTA support.
Oh, ok. I understand. I'm looking for a paraprofessional job but wasn't sure if this is what I thought it is. Thank you
NTA’s at my school do not work inside the classrooms. They are there to support and monitoring the students, hallways, bathrooms, frequent elopers/ frequent flyers, recess, lunch etc. If there are issues inside one of the teachers classrooms, and the NTA is in the hallway being a monitor, often the NTA will call over the walkie for support by an admin, to come to that classroom, such as the principal or deans.
We also have TA’s as well, but they ae specifically assigned to one classroom/teacher. And they do teach classroom lessons. We mostly use them with our kinder through first grade classrooms since those classrooms are always at max capacity with students. I’m in Philly though, so this may be different in other states and/or cities but NTA’s and TA’s have completely different roles.
