Why can’t there be different names for the same thing?
When you train models for statistical learning, you have “features”, which look like “columns” in Excel. If you fit a probability of default model, they become “variables”.
I think your question should be what’s the context of use for each of these names. Perhaps that’s what you are asking.
I’m just trying to not seem like an idiot. My new client seemingly uses these terms interchangeably and I can’t figure out from the context if they’re using different terms for different purposes or just haphazardly jumping from term to term.
Entity, attributes are usually referred to when talking about that logical model of a database. Table,
Columns are for the physical model. Field is usually used when there is data involved.
