It’s gotta be the Delorean. Even if you set aside the back to the future franchise that thing just encapsulated the whole “screw it, why not?” Spirit of that era.
911
Jaguar E-type from the 60s
Ferrari F40
Ferrari 458
Mini cooper
Land Rover Defender
Nissan GT-R
Model T
VW Beetle
I Think the fact I don’t have to say what brand makes the first one (and the Model T) tells you all you need to know. Also as the legend goes, the only vehicle some remote tribes have ever seen is a Defender. E-type is wildly regarded as the best looking car ever made, famously being called such by Enzo Ferrari. Speaking of Ferrari I think the F40 is the ultimate expression of it, but in modern times I think it has become the 458. I would like to put in a Lamborghini in here like the super angled ones from the 80s but idk. Mini coopers are also timeless and classless - driven by peasants, rock stars, and royalty. Nissan GTR is the ultimate icon for JDM, probably the r34. Model T you already know, and maybe that’s actually the most iconic, but I think many don’t actually know what it looks like and wouldn’t be able to tell it apart from another car in the 1920s so maybe it isn’t “iconic”? And then the beetle, hitlers I mean the peoples car. And we’ve now gone full circle back to 911.
Honorable mentions:
McLaren F1
Aston Martin DB5 aka James Bond car

Lambo Countach
Fiat 500
Ford Mustang
Ford F150 (Best selling vehicle in US) / Raptor (started the super truck)
Ford Crown Vic - but this is niche to USA
Hummer - doesn’t even matter which one so that’s saying something
Delorean but that’s just bc Back to the Future
BMW M3
Merc 300 SL
Subaru STI - for rally fans
Toyota Pickup/Hilux - 🔝⚙️ + 👳🏾♂️
Toyota Camry / Honda Civic
MAZDA MIATA I SHOULD PROBABLY HAVE PUT THIS WAY HIGHER TBH
Jeep Wrangler
Only edit/clarification I’d make is to specify e46 M3. Everything else you’ve said is spot on.
1966 GT40. An evolution in race cars and the end of Ferrari dominance at the toughest race in the world. American industrial might and know how focused on one goal in a beautiful and distinctive package recognized by any car enthusiast anywhere. You might get a porsche or a ferrari model number wrong or be off, but when people see a GT40 they know exactly what it is.
For me, 1st Gen Mustang.
My uncle had one and it's the reason I'm so into cars. Can't wait to buy one
300 SL Gullwing and the DB5
The gullwing is a fabulous car.
1958 Buick limited. King of chrome. Height of Harley Earl style
‘94 964 Turbo
Most variations of the DB Aston Martins, they are THE James Bond car and pretty universally recognized through several iterations and generations.
A classic VW beetle, what other car do you still see with that abundance for its age? And for it to have no radiator/cooling system, that is just amazing.
Ferrari GTO
