I started working for a bank and am going through the background check. They found an arrest which was dismissed and the file was sealed a few days after the check. They’re requesting the police report on top of the court order to seal. The police report is BAD. During the arrest (DUI) they wrote the report to make me seem like a complete lunatic. Embellished on several elements of the case. I am worried that giving them this report will cause me to be let go.

Do background check companies verify your gpa with your school or do they just verify that you actually went to the school?

Last night I told my husband that I was thinking about getting my hair cut shorter - not short, but shorter - and wanted his opinion. He said “it’s your hair so it’s up to you.” While I appreciate his “your body, your choice” stance in theory, in practical terms, I wanted some actual thoughts by the person who sees my face every day on whether I should change my hair. Does he a) not want me to cut hair, b) want it to stay long but won’t say it, or c) not really care?

Moved to Dallas a few months ago, anyone else think it’s strange that so many neighborhoods use rear entry garages and people drive through alleys to get to them? Never saw these growing up.

not alcohol/drugs related but more so to do with p*rn addiction. i have struggled for years with this and I am currently making a lot of progress. I started to make real progress once I started telling people (fiance, counsellor, pastor, etc).

I really don't think it should just be considered a religious thing since it effects the brain a lot and can obviously hurt your relationship. Wanted to see if others also struggle with this and are open to sharing.

I am 10 months sober today. I am very grateful to be part of this family.

Have any of you found it worthwhile to think about why you are an addict? Care to share?

Just taking the opportunity to get current. Sober 3 years and 10 months. This past couple weeks have been stressful and my mind slipped into fantasizing about my drug of choice. Last week I flipped out at some of my wife's family. I did an amends and I think time will heal this one. It's all up to HP. Although I have neglected my morning practice this week, I'm practicing self compassion with positive self talk.

Sibling is 52 days sober from heroin/cocaine, but I just found a syringe and alcohol wipes under their pillow.

They have been passing observed urine tests, how is it possible that they’re using? Any ideas?

What are some hot and cold drinks to replace alcohol? I like hard cider with Fireball, cabernet, chardonay, and craft beers but want to treat myself after a hard day with something less destructive.

I told myself I wasn’t going to do it. Re-assured myself I wasn’t going to do it. Told myself you’d know what would happen and still ended up gambling away a bunch of money I know I couldn’t blow. I don’t understand.

My sister is turning 30 in rehab this week, and I want to send her a birthday gift that she'll appreciate, but also that might be helpful to her as she transitions into a new sober life.

Have been sober for many years but currently relapsed and am in a downward spiral. I’m close to losing my family but I can’t seem to get my head together. Feel like I need a few months out, maybe take some time off work… has anyone done similar and did it help?

Anyone have a friend or family member suffer from liver damage / failure? Not sure how or what to do to help someone with the problem.

First in-person retreat in a while coming up and first for me at this particular firm. Several people have mentioned that much of the bonding etc happens while drinking. I am newly sober and now worried about being in this environment, any tips for making it through the weekend? Similar experiences?
