Having to arrest parents in front of the children!

Had to experience this like 7 years ago. It was heartbreaking looking at the children and see them cry. But what is more heartbreaking is the fact that the parents are selling and using drugs in front of their children and allow people to enter their house and use it as a drug den.

Dealing with drunks, druggies, crazies, and stupid people. I just can't say just one thing, so I lumped them all together.

The thing that plucks my nerves more then anything Is when your on the Highway directing traffic at an accident or something. You always get the people that want to stop and ask you directions. Hello I am a little busy here

I like finding dope interdiction stops are alot of fun.

The paycheck. Meh.. I used to work in IT, and I am used to a much larger check. However, quality of life has increased dramatically and has outweighed the extra $$ I used to receive.

I'm a cop, and I can tell you that my least favorite calls are anything involving domestic violence. And if I get there and there's kids, it's even worse.

SOME of the kids who are arrested for criminal sexual conduct are just sad. This kid just turned 18, has been sleeping with his almost 16 year old longtime gf and now they break up. She tells people they slept together, now he has years of prison hanging over his head and has to register as a predatory offender for 10-20 years.

People filming you putting the night's fourth drunk onto the ambulance as if you're about to randomly assault him, despite the fact that cops and medics are the only reason he's still alive.

Those that convert a minor arrangement into a forceful arrest. I've had to put a person to sleep because he chose a fight with me rather going to bed.

You will frequently encounter uncomfortable, unpredictable, and fast changing situations. In an instant, you will have to ramp and de-escalate the degree of force you use. When you violate policy while following the law, you will be scrutinized.

I used to be a correctional officer, and the hidden risk of that, as well as police employment, is stress and shift work. Shift work in any job reduces your life expectancy; add stress to the equation. There is a lot of hypertension, a greater risk of getting PTSD, a higher rate of cardiac issues, domestic abuse, alcoholism, depression, suicide, and so on.

Saw someone asking about high-rise apartments in Mott Haven earlier. Just moved into a new apartment building here and honestly it’s not as bad as I thought. New buildings are safe and pretty spacious (relatively speaking). Downside is not really much to do around this area and food delivery is not great. Hope this is helpful for any one who is looking at this area.
