I'm biased, but can I say teaching? Lol. I feel like every single one of my friends is making more and working less than me.

Probably retail workers and people who do manual labor. Plus, anyone who works for Amazon outside of the top executives.

Childcare / teaching

Not all are underpaid. Tech and healthcare are paying well and workload is relatively reasonable (easily $200K - $500K with advanced degree in the Silicon Valley).

Everything seems stuck at pre covid rates.

So I worked from home yesterday and my husband had a sneak peak on my meetings with clients (which I’m very new to being a senior). He mention that I should read some sales pitch books of some sorts so I can get a process down and not be drain from having genuine conversations with every client. I think it’s a great idea. Anyone have thoughts or recommendation?

Would love to hear thoughts on best approach of you are a senior associate at V10 firm. Do you just become counsel until they tell you that partnership is not in the cards or do you try to hop to the first partnership (equity, or at least NEP with clear progression to equity if you bring in some business) opportunity at a say V50 firm. I’m not home grown at my current firm, but do have a small book currently.

I asked for a raise in April 2022 after three years with my company. Positive feedback since day one. Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. I’ve been asked to provide examples how my role has changed since I started to justify the increase. Is this normal? Or is this just their way of denying my request?

Just posting as a reminder to LEAVE that job (within a reasonable time 😂) and go where the money is!
