100%
99% - literally billed as “expert of x,” where x is
something new — in every kickoff meeting
80-95%. It never really ends. If you fake it well enough, expectations of your abilities go up so you gotta continue faking it until you find yourself the leading expert in something. At least this has been my experience these past few years in consulting
@SC1 - FYI: it’s liable, as in liability.
A1 I do know my stuff pretty well, I have been doing it a long time, but I still have to embellish to brink of discomfort all the time.
SC1 you have issues. And you are lying to yourself.
You are suffering from the delusion that “everyone else” knows what they are doing. Most also have no idea.
Expert means you know 10% more about the subject than everyone else in the room

Isn't emerging technologies 100% faking it until you make it by definition? I mean they are emerging..
Discomfort creates constant motivation to keep learning, extending yourself, and growing. This is a very healthy thing if you work in Emerging Tech due to the pace the field moves
The Peter principle is real. Most people are faking it
Fake expert here. I survive through communication skills and because common sense isn’t very common.
75 percent, and I’m still a little surprised when people accept my ideas or recos
About 60%. 3 years in and sometimes just amazed by the fact that the client asks what I would do when they have +15 years of experience. Forced to fake it and then learn enough to convey the message.
Most people in emerging technologies at ACN know their stuff really well
Mck1 I subscribe to the same belief. Most people in the work place are fucking baboons, even if they're capable of more they choose to relax. Which, is totally fine since most everyone else is doing that too. Very few people I've run into are impressively competent and choosing to operate at peak performance over 80% of the time.
Let me white board that for you
EY1 is 100% correct in my situation. Promotion at a higher level won’t occur usually unless you’re bringing something different to the table. This is by exploring gaps in the firm and bridging them.
