The most valuable test I’ve ever taken is the Aptitude testing administered by the Johnson O’Connor Research Foundation. It is professionally administered series that helps uncover your innate talents and abilities. The tests give you an understanding and vocabulary for what you’re actually good at naturally - and they couple that with an interest survey to give you ideas about careers that would be a good match. It runs $750, so expensive but 100% worth it. I told a friend about it and she put her 3 teenagers through - they’re much better prepared and a lot more confident about their college pathway now. These tests are basically horoscopes. You'll find people violently defending them, but in reality it is little more than a BuzzFeed quiz. People answer with what they aspire to be and not what they are, or the answer that seems "right" relative to the others. Few people want to choose the answer that makes them sound less ambitious or confident. Self reflection and figuring out what you want or what you are good at needs to be more personal than an online quiz.
