Thanks all for the MS to do reminder. I used an early version and didn’t like it but will come back to try it. I’ve tried so many things - oneNote, notion, motion, list apps. And of course plenty of paper. You’d think by now I would have found a single tool that I rely on.
One thing I have used for years is a simple text file I keep on my desktop. I find it the easiest to find at all times but archaic to say the least.
No harm in continuing to use it if it works, rather than going down the rabbit hole of new tools. I use the text files too but only if I can’t pull up another of my methods. Not a fan because it’s hard to access on mobile. Whatever you choose, I think it’s important that it’s really easy to access and use, even if not perfect, to avoid having to clean out and sync things up.
Microsoft to-do. And I usually set a timer when completing a task to try to beat the timer. I can’t touch my phone until the timer goes off
I like the timer idea for not touching phone -
I keep it simple, I use Outlook for meetings and reminders, I use my Apple calendar for weekend events, then I do grocery lists and things I need to do in Apple notes and then I do a notebook and sticky notes.
Microsoft To Do, OneNote, calendars, Notes
The Time Timer is a great visual timer option that comes in multiple styles and colors, so it can be part of your desk setup without it being garish or anything. It’s inexpensive and does exactly what it promises. I struggle with time blindness frequently and I’ve noticed that it helps a lot!
The major caveat with Time Timer is that it may not be great for open-concept offices if you’re using the alarm sound (can be turned on or off), as it sounds a lot like a classic loud clock radio alarm and would likely bother others. If you have an office with a door or work from home, or if you turn the alarm sounds off when in-office, it’ll still work fine.
