Hi All,
Looking to make the move from working in industry to big4 and was curious as to what level and pay I might be worth?
I have 10 years experience out of uni, as well as completed CPA and MBA. I have a experience in managing entire finance function of small/medium entities, but most notably solid corporate finance experience/strategy leading refinance exercises, debt raising, hedging/treasury strategy etc…Would be looking for something in deal advisory / M&A / CFO advisory etc….thanks Deloitte EY PwC @

Employer sponsorship is typically a 482 visa.
I interviewed fully remote from the US for an Aussie role, but my visa was through my Aussie spouse so I did not need employer sponsorship.
Thanks for sharing!
Big 4 tend to be quite good at sponsoring visas for overseas staff. I used to work at EY in Sydney and more than half my team was not from Australia, with many on employer sponsored visas. Given that you work at Deloitte I would look into what their opportunities for global mobility are.
Be aware that coming from the US, Big 4 in Australia pays no where near as much as it does in the US and also Big 4 pay below what industry pays. Most people get massive pay rises by moving from Big 4 to industry, which is why Big 4 like having a decent sized number of staff on employer sponsored visas as it is very hard for you to leave if you haven’t yet got PR or Citizenship.
Most industry roles are not sponsoring since the pandemic. (The fact that I had the right to work via my Aussie spouse is the reason I got traction.) It’s at their own detriment though since there isn’t enough strategy talent in Australia currently, so they are paying a premium for those able to work in Australia.
What level are you coming in at?
The Audit landscape isn't as strenuous as it is in the US so that reduces workload by a bit, but an unfortunate common trend here in Big-4s is that the teams are top-heavy with scarcity particularly in the SC level so a lot of burden falls to Ms or SMs. Definite difference in the work quality, teams, professional work culture, etc. Some may call it being "chilled out" or "laid back" but that's highly subjective.
Also, there will be a phenomenal paycut so prepare for that.
