Depends what you’re looking for long-term and who the client or agency are.
Assuming we’re talking about a good creative agency and a good in-house team here’s what to expect.
Salaries will be similar, but in-house will have much better benefits / perks. You’ll do more diverse, and usually better, work at an agency, but you’ll work significantly longer hours than in-house. In-house has better job stability, but only slightly in most cases. Lastly, the agency will have a more fun culture and more parties, but that only matters if you care about that stuff. Agency-side will also be more competitive on a day to day basis, which is both good and bad.
I used to work in-house at a trendy-ish client and these were my experiences. They’re anecdotal and purely my POV. Neither is better or worse in every way, there are trade offs.

^ I agree. For me clients side is best. It's more brand building which I love.
Agency side has a different cultures depending on the account, and some people prefer that.

Working in-myhouse for client-side and agency at the same time.
Wouldn’t trade an in-house role unless it’s for W+K or similar. However prepare to battle marketing team to your grave if you choose in-house route.
