Quite frankly this discussion is so mute.
1: highly dependent on annual business performance.
2: we’re all paying our work force roughly the same so unless there’s a massive imbalance in workforce to partner this should balance out over time.
3: every individual datapoint you might collect here is not representative as determined by a bunch of other factors.
4: and lastly: most people don’t even know. I got promoted recently and I have zero insight into my 2025 comp until next March or so.
And lastly: even if there was a tiny structural difference: I doubt that anyone would switch sides at a senior length because of that. The risk of switching and not landing successfully is just too high. There are instances in which companies want to aggressively grow capabilities and poach individuals with amazing packages. But that’s not representative.
I don’t think it’s true that we’re paid roughly the same. The median maybe yes but rainmakers at BCG and MCK make more than Bain
650k at McKinsey. I’ve heard $1.2M at BCG but I assume it’s lower in this economy.
It’s pretty apparent which type of “Partner” OP was referring to. And, it still wouldn’t be 3 years faster.

The better question is - how has it changed over the last 15 years. Or has it stayed relatively consistent / not grown much.
