What’s going on with the hiring processes? Is negotiation still part of the process when they give you an offer? Do you still get to pick your start date? It seems as if the hiring market has changed so much. I really need the perspective from hr or recent applicant that have accept an offer! I had a very unpleasant experience with an offer where they had no room for negotiation when it came to salary or starting timeline :(

Yes, you can and should still negotiate but you should demonstrate tact. Same goes for start date.

That said, if the employer is not moving on their initial offer and the offer is ultimately not in your interest, then there’s not much you can do and you should politely decline.

I'm going to accept an offer that's 150k+🎉 I'm a single filer, no kids. I'll be able to max out: 401k, HSA, but from my understanding, I will not qualify to utilize IRA? Aside from building a 6-month emergency fund (HYSA), what are potential next investment vehicles? I do know I want to start purchasing real estate for cash flow. But what about mega-backdoor Roth IRA? I'll admit, I still need to read more on it.

Just curious what investment vehicles you're using to get to FIRE.

Anyone else finding it very difficult to get any enjoyment out of account management these days? Any coping tips? I feel like being an account person is especially difficult in the COVID era since so much of what we do is manage communications, ensure the team is set up well etc. None of this feels particularly fun alone staring into the void of Zoom all day ... but the same pressure is still there. I feel like I spend every week counting down to the weekend which kinda sucks.

Considering a jump from Chicago to New York. I truly love living in Chicago and how far this salary gets me but I definitely want to try to make it in New York.

The only problem is my significant other has a lot of negative opinions about New York. I ultimately want to return to DC but I feel like a few good years in New York would be really good for me. In terms of a place to live, where in Manhattan can I find a place that's similar to River North in Chicago?

After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.
