With you so hard.
Not a single coping mechanism to offer... just a whole lot of solidarity, right there with you
Same here.
I’m burnt out and decided I wouldn’t work past 6-6:30 as of this week. let the chips fall where they may.
I like this and was kind of thinking I might try to integrate more “normal” activities in the work week. It’s so easy to just keep working forever. Pre-COVID I would go from work to happy hour. Maybe try to plan some more mid-week social distanced meet-ups could help.
My coping mechanism was to go and get my masters degree. Its kind of expensive, but I can at least justify emotionally disconnecting from work, which is nice.
Feeling very much in the same boat — has me considering changing departments/ industry all together.
@ae 1, great point. I was promoted shortly after WFH started but “raises and hiring are frozen” so no more compensation and no backfill. A new email signature seems fair for all the extra work...
Meeee. Burnt out, overwhelmed. And recently given more assignments. Ha.
Hi 👋 I'm an AD who still likes her job. Working for clients I believe in helps. Working for bosses who let me control my hours and trust me to get my work done helps. Setting boundaries and closing my computer at 6:30pm every single day helps. Pushing myself to learn new skills and get creative with campaign strategies has been fun. I'm not digging the amount of negativity in this thread, I feel like the only account person who actually likes what they do.
your commitment and passion to the acc management role is admirable. On setting boundaries, how do you establish and have your clients observe them esp eg when a client texts you after working hours/ weekends? Not for urgent matters and on a constant basis
Same here. I’ve started looking into other jobs, which is very hard during COVID. But in general acct is a 20/7 job and man am I burned out. Sending good vibes to all account folks out there going through the same ish.

I did it for thirty years...not sure ‘enjoyment’ is a word that comes to mind.
Same here. Counting down the days and dreading Mondays hard. But I’d say really lean on non-work activities/hobbies/interests that you’d look forward to. I lead 30-min yoga & meditations for my team every Friday, and chat regularly with my manager who I have a great relationship with and those are the only two things getting me through the week.
Maybe it's time to look elsewhere.
We have started meeting at the office for certain meetings. Like a planning session, for example. We follow strict safety guidelines.
If you feel safe enough to go meet friends for a meal, you will feel safe enough seeing your colleagues and working with them for an afternoon.
I feel this on a deep level - same, same and same. I'm at the stage of leaving my current agency in the hopes of reigniting the passion for my career within a new environment/acct/people.
We got this, just take it day by day
Had to change industries to get away from it so I can actually focus on my self and family. Advertising was a lot of fun and can really be rewarding, but I don’t live to work and that was the fundamental difference.
