I'm going to accept an offer that's 150k+🎉 I'm a single filer, no kids. I'll be able to max out: 401k, HSA, but from my understanding, I will not qualify to utilize IRA? Aside from building a 6-month emergency fund (HYSA), what are potential next investment vehicles? I do know I want to start purchasing real estate for cash flow. But what about mega-backdoor Roth IRA? I'll admit, I still need to read more on it.

i moved recently and incurred about 10K in CC debt (~25% APR) and about 36K left of my student debt (8% APR). I can probably pay between $1000-$1500 a month towards debt with my current budget. my parents recently downsized are gifting me $40K to pay off my student loan, which my mum co-signed. would it be appropriate to ask her if i can use it to pay off CC debt and continue paying the student loan (and pay it off on my own by fall)? should i just bite the bullet and pay the interest?

I see people write that they work 8-6 or 9-5 in house, but do you have set hours, or like a law firm, are your hours a little bit flexible (come in later sometimes, come early and leave early, etc)? Can you work remotely as easily as at a firm? Block off an afternoon for a doctors appointment without scheduling PTO like you would at a firm (as long as your work got done)? I’m sure it varies between companies, but just wondering generally.

My bf took a guys trip to Caribbean to celebrate a good friend of 20+ year’s milestone bday. The friend’s bday is the day before mine. Normally bf and I trip for my bday over the holiday weekend. What or who inspired you to FIRE? For me, I got to a point of being purely demotivated at work and had no drive to work for another company, I’m late to the path of FIRE (just starting this year).

I am going to gross above the 2022 Roth limit, but my MAGI will bring me below the limit based on my maxing out of 401k. I am also expecting to receive 2 bonuses this year, one for $8k and another for a yet to be determined amount. Basically, I am right on the edge of the threshold and it is making planning confusing. Anyone encounter this before? How’d you gauge your contribution for the year? Or is it best to just wait until next April and pull the trigger then so you don’t over contribute?

How do you strike the right balance between spending and saving? For example, if you’re looking to buy a car, do you wait until you can pay 50% in cash? 75% in cash? Full?
