That just talking through one's issues in a session or two will magically cure years of trauma. People out there spouting about how therapy helped them so much almost immediately are doing a disservice to the real work it takes to heal and move forward. It can take years, and sometimes even that's not enough.
Journaling. It's a fantastic practice that can almost never hurt a client, but I do think hoping that you can stop your trauma in its tracks or somehow side step it by writing it all down is ridiculous.
