What's the appeal of using H1B vs offshoring? Obviously if it works as intended then we bring in skilled labor that isn't otherwise not available here. But if companies are using it to bring in generic low level jobs, why not just offshore them altogether?

Relatively new in Big4 M&A advisory doing mostly integration work with some pre deal DD mixed in. I recently heard L.E.K. Consulting places well in MM PE but don't know much about them otherwise. Was interested if anyone had insight into whether a jump to their M&A or PE groups would be possible. In terms of background, I have an undergrad business degree from a T20 school and graduated a T14 law school as well.
