My wife started as an M at Accenture earlier this year coming from industry. I’ve never worked at Accenture or any b4, but I had to explain to her how up or out works. She also didn’t know that she came in with 24 months at level and what that meant. Really surprised none of this was communicated during hiring or by her manager.

Agree with SC1. I would only include it if there is an extenuating circumstance, that is impacting your application, that would then benefit by an explanation (ex: your GPA is lower than the average seen in candidates because xyz happened in college)
Yes. As the recruitment lead at my firm I look for cover letters. The reason is simple. A cv is generic, so I want to know an applicant has considered and researched the firm and the role. In the letter pull out the relevant points from your cv or resume and relate then to the role description, firm culture etc.
I would say put it in, when I have been interviewing we look for key words, terms, stuff that stands out. If it's not in the cover letter, or in the references that are making you stand out then you don't get the interview.
