McKinsey & Company What’s the bar for the phone interview at McKinsey & Company ? I think everything went good in terms of computation but on the final math question I had to re ask her the prompt twice to make sure I had everything- would that be a negative? Also one one of the brainstorming questions I didn’t do a good enough job - interviewer had to ask me what else and then remind me she was looking for non financial benefits. She said I can expect to hear from the recruiter Today/Tomorrow.
I left some to be desired on my math portion, but did well on frameworks, brainstorming and PEI. Moved on to next round.
Giving myself ~2 weeks for more prep.

I heard back next next day EOD, but I don’t think this is standardized.
I believe the bar for the phone interview - assuming it’s the case with an alum and no PEI - is lower than the following rounds, I think it’s just to make sure you don’t waste interviewers time come the actual interviewers. However, you should get good feedback to work on.
This is based on my experience, I do not actively interview so please treat this as anecdotal.
They’re backed up on recruiting so making sure they don’t just get anyone in front of partners
Bar is much lower. The alumni case is to assess whether you’d be wasting partners’ time. The firm wants to make sure you have some basics of a case interview. Your evaluation timing will depend on when the alum submits the feedback.
