Science & Democracy... Thoughts?
The Canadian market is very tough in biotech/pharma, which is why I moved to the US. You are going to have to start thinking about how to get in beyond just applying (necessary but not sufficient). I had 1 yoe and a PhD; applied for 6 months with 0 responses, but when I started applying in the US, it took less than 30 days to land 4 interviews and 3 offers that even sponsored my visa without question. The cherry on top was that every single place I applied to responded even if it was a “no”. For reference, I am Canadian. Depending on your skills/training, it might be worthwhile to look into similar industries (for example food inspection, veterinary diagnostics, or bioremediation) that can help you break into the Canadian market
I am Canadian in this sector and it is very very difficult to find a position. It’s interesting to hear that in USA it’s easier. I actually am working for a USA based company remotely while living in Canada. Your credentials will not be enough to get you noticed. You are competing against many others with similar or better credentials. You need to get known thru networking.
