You consider yourself a foreigner after 17 years in US?
As someone who emigrated to the US 25+ years ago, I definitely don’t consider myself a foreigner. I consider myself a proud American and I’m fairly open about it. I have actively worked to adopt the American culture and I feel comfortably accepted.
Are you sure people just don’t like your personality. I work with many “foreigners” and they’re all feel great. Also I’ve been a foreigner and have been included in everything
That's really unfortunate, but probably a smaller boutique consulting firm with a more modern culture.
Cognizant had the most h1b visas
Ha! I hear ya! I’ve been here for 21 years and people always want to chat about where I am from. If I response with the state, I get one of those yeah but where are you reaaaaallly from. Btw I moved here as a child, just have an accent, and I know absolutely nothing about my supposed home country. I guess Americans aren’t as accepting as advertised.
Yeah heaven forbid people be curious about your background, especially since according to you they’d be accurate.
MK 1 obviously you have not experienced this yourself and cannot relate. When you do, them I want to hear your thoughts.
Actually I do. I have a very unusual name that people have trouble pronouncing.
1 I say yeah my parents picked it for xyz reasons but I’m really from y place
2 I correct them on the pronunciation and they’re happy to comply
You’d think people in consulting could grow a thicker skin.
