Hi Fishes, I am considering a Senior Engineer role with Alteryx (previously Hyper Anna) Sydney. If it's not too much trouble, I was hoping if anyone here could share their experience of working at Alteryx Sydney in terms of Culture, work life balance, politics, work pressure, people, Leadership and product. Thanks.

Hello ZSers,
I have been shortlisted for AC role and my HR discussion is scheduled next week.
1. Need some insights on the maximum and minimum ctc (fixed and variable) that can be offered for 3 yoe (all relevant) . My current ctc is 7.2 (6.5 fixed) . Tech stack - Big data and AWS developer.
2. Is there any joining bonus. If yes , what should be the ask.
Any inputs will be very helpful for me to go with my expectations to the HR. Thanks!

Modeling is just a tool.
The interesting part of the job is learning what makes each company tick, figuring out if they are good businesses, finding angles where you could create value etc.
IMO how much you enjoy investment case studies would be a much better indicator than the straight “finance” stuff

Check out some PE prep courses or just search around for “PE practice case study”.
It’s really just about going through materials on a company and trying to identify key drivers, etc.
I came from IBD so learning about this stuff just happened on the job - not sure the best way to go about it in your position; it’s tough without getting feedback on the viewpoints you develop

Excel is the mechanical part of it. Anyone can use it, do well with it, with the right practice. Most important thing about PE is having a perspective whether to buy a company and its price.
What the drivers are, where the costs are. Any broader macro trends that may enable or disrupt the business.
Excel is like 10 percent of the overall exercise
“Modeling” is a relatively small piece of your time in PE (excluding more discrete analyses you do during diligence in building data packs / IC materials). There’s a ton of process work, coordination, managing third party advisors, a diligence list, reviewing CIMs, sitting on hours of management meetings and diligence calls taking notes, etc, etc. with constant time pressure and often a compromised WLB. It’s more than just enjoying learning about companies and their drivers and building operating models / LBOs. Although if you like that stuff it makes the other stuff easier
Do you enjoy excel?
I’d enjoy it if I was better at it 😓 currently struggling (first project)
