A new ECD who doesn’t know anyone doesn’t know who they can trust to do the work and has a lot to prove. It’s the nature of work with any new boss. You either stick it out and show them the best of you, or you try to find a new place to work!
In my experience, this either ends in ECD replacing people with those they trust, or you get put through your paces for 6 months.
You could use a psychological trick and ask them for a small favor. Even if that’s 5 minutes of their time for additional feedback. Apparently it works.
What’s the trick? How does this work?
If you don’t want to leave your job or be replaced you should find time to set a 1:1 with them and have them get to know you discuss any wins you’ve had, areas you wish to learn more, and understand how they like to work this way you show them you are serious about your career and you get to get a better impression of who they are as a leader.
SVP, did you put in any effort to get to know them?
Don’t rock the boat too much. See how the land settles after the earthquake. Went through this myself.
What agency if you don’t mind me asking?
FEAR ME!!
ECD1 I’m 95% certain you’re the person this is about.
Sadly you've gone back to day 1 of your time at the agency and must prove yourself all over again. Sorry.
