I am close to retirement now. I can tell the last 50 years the best whay to increase your wages has become to change your company. New hires will always start hire than you do unless the company you are in are truely promoting from within. Not just dumping more work on those that stick it out while the newbies get trained and then go elsewhere in 2-3 years. The higher your salary the lower the %. Don't count on any bonus, take the job for the salary & benifits which they can't take away. Bonus is just icing on the cake.

I am starting a new position/ different company where I will make 50% more. I always knew I was not paid appropriately at previous job. I should have left long ago. My advice is: if you feel place is not going to give you growth opportunities you deserve and can handle take a leap and move on. It pays off in a long run.

The biggest % increase I have ever gotten was about 44.68% when I did a career pivot and changed companies.
The biggest promotion % was about 9.2%. Biggest merit increase was about 3.5%
