So, I just joined a startup. No processes, no clear strategy, just one goal: selling. Getting leads. When ever I try to build a strategy, they (founders) swamp me with blablabla stories and not a single action plan. Is this the usual at startups? Also,no real company culture. At all. No HR. Learned on the day of the deadline to enroll, that my partner's employer offers voluntary participation on a deferred compensation plan. First time I hear of such a benefit/option after working for years! I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. Currently, in accenture. I have had very bad billable hours and not much achievement this fiscal year. I am worried of getting fired, so i applied for another job. Got offered may be 5% above my current pay with 5k bonus, but in lower level at Deloitte. I think working lower level will give me more opportunities to learn as i think i have lot to learn. I made decision based on my gut and accepted the offer. I have not talked to anyone on accenture side yet. What you think?
