McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!
How easy is it to switch offices in Bain?
Bain & Company I’m currently prepping for Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company interviews scheduled in the next 2 months. For those that interviewed with both, how would you suggest I tailor my preparation for each one? I understand McKinsey is interviewer led while Bain is the opposite. But other than that, is there anything else I should work on separately for each one?

The unspoken rule is to try to match or up the client (not to much above) in terms of dress code
In my personal experience, I had clients where I wore sneakers and jeans and that was the normal
Other where I had to wear really formal clothes
Overall, more business atire..
I started last year and have yet to need dress pants - chinos are more than fine for the vast majority of occasions.
If you get staffed with a client that has a more formal dress code, get dress pants, but in all likelihood you’ll be fine for a while without them.
It depends on the office. Generally, west coast is more relaxed than east coast. This is for when you’re at the office. In general, I would own a couple pairs of slack, but generally chinos are fine. Dress code has relaxed past COVID.
Also echoing McK1 here - going to the client is a different ball game and you just don’t know before you start with them. So you would definitely need to have a set of formal clothes in your closet as well.
Good luck starting!!
Nowadays we are happy if new joiners wear any pants at all...
Y’all hiring?
Thanks for the reply! I am curious about dressing at home office (MBB Washington, DC).
Thanks :)

Did you intern there? The dress won't have changed from last summer. For most things chinos are fine. However, if you don't have any nice dress pants you need to add those to your wardrobe. Some client interaction will likely call for that.
