Based on some of my interactions with them, I'd say 2.3.

asbestos is yummy

For laterals I don't think they care they just hire anyone with a pulse and even that is probably optional

They're not obsessed with grades. They want you to be hungry.

Depends on your school ranking, as always, but agree with the above that they hire a personality type above everything else.

Dallas office once told me the cutoff was 3.55 or something like that. This was a few years back. Was at a top school. Imagine the cutoff would’ve been even higher for most other schools.

Lateral or from Law School?

Lateral

I know plenty of folks in their Dallas and Houston offices with sub-3.5 grades from a T50 school

Depends on the group. Cutoff is higher for lit/IP than corporate. Highest cutoff for appellate in DC.

this is a joke please don’t attack me im fragile it’s monday

The real question is how tangential is the family relation? If the partner is your dad, you can probably get away with a 2.5. If he's your stepdad, probably need at least a 3.0. An uncle? I've heard it has to be above a 3.3 so that doesn't almost nothing for you..

what about if ur their mistress/mister (idk what the male version of a mistress is)

About to head to the HC for a role in ProdOps and Strategy in Mountain View. 4 YoE at MBB, no competing offers. Recruiter gave me a form that asks expected comp.
Levels.fyi has only PM salaries. I haven’t been told the level but expect it to be L4.

What total comp would you expect for this role? Any advice would be super helpful, as I’m a bit lost.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

Does where you get your masters degree matter? I’m in an online environmental science masters program at an expensive “name-brand” school, but have colleagues telling me I should transfer to a less expensive program to save $ because no one cares about where your degree is from. Aside from the cost of it, I like my program, and the fact that I’m now connected to an incredible alumni network. And not gonna lie, I like the clout. Thoughts?

Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!
