I’ve been trying to get into the top tier Associate Product Marketing Manager position Google for some time now for just an interview and I feel like business majors somehow have such a stronger chance in getting interviewed especially my business school and I feel really discouraged as an Econ Major and I have a lot of marketing experience that I’ve built over the years. Are there any non-business majors in the tech realm in non technical positions at Google that can advise me?

Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

Idk if this is the best specifically for DE interviews, but the gold standard in system design reading is Designing Data Intensive Applications by Kleppmann. Relevant as can be for DE, but won't teach you Scala syntax or whatever

Data Engineer interview will be based on concepts , which I am not sure can be covered by a single book. Today’s landscape has changed so much.
I am not sure how much time you have , but I would suggest read the Microsoft Azure Data Engineering certification material, that is Azure focused but concepts are generic.
Other part of interview may be about the technology asked as part of job description.
Also , you can talk to recruiter if he can suggest what kind of data engineer they are looking for.
Is is focused on relational databases or they are more into NoSql .
Because if you are not in DE space, it may not be easy to just read and crack the interview.
Lol remembering what you read during your 4year masters
