Anyone in Gottingen?
Hi Sharks, I am asked to sign the offer letter. It's kind of an agreement between me and the company for accepting the offer and compensation numbers. Of course It doesn't have statments like I have to join the company on signing this. My question is that 1. If I get a better offer can I go and ask them to revise the offer? 2. Can I decide not to join the company? Will there be any legal consequences? Have you ever been asked to sign the offer? Boeing Tata Consultancy Wipro Capgemini Cognizant

If i were cravath i would match and also issue the same summer bonus as last year. That would give them the appearance of leadership while containing the comp increase to the 3%ish that Milbank announced.
I don’t think they care about leadership anymore

Before the next paycheck hits. But a delay could indicate that they are mulling over another raise. Someone please remind me why Cravath is still V1 or otherwise relevant anyway.
Looking at the moves in the last five years, yes they’ve been reactive re: comp. Look back further and it’s different. Five years isn’t that long. But id certainly agree they’re not the comp leader they used to be.
And yes Cravath has clearly given up many of the things that made it unique. But taking laterals and having NEPs is just industry-standard. I’m not suggesting Cravath is what it once was. I just responded to your suggestion that Cravath has lost all its relevance. It’s hard to say that about the firm that still sets your salary. And the V50 still looks to Cravath on what to do. Do you see matches pouring in right now? Wait and see what happens in the days after Cravath announces.
I don’t have their 2026 rates, but just based on what I’ve seen/heard from friends who are there, i would expect their rates are higher than the rest of the V10 (except Wachtell, but as you probably know they’re a bit different). Cravath’s RPL is super high—not sure who is ahead of them other than Wachtell. Cravath has always had a slightly lower PPEP than some others, but Cravath has always been willing to spend a lot on its perks/facilities, which drops PPEP.

Lots of firms require partner votes to increase comp. Obviously a rubber stamp, but that could be the delay for a bunch of firms. Would expect all to have matched by the time the July 1 pay period comes around.
I can’t imagine the Milbank scale being the final scale. I think the firms want to get away from summer bonuses so the scale has to go up enough that people are compensated at least as much as they would have been with the summer bonuses last year. I predict cravath or DPW will put the scale over milbank and not do special bonuses
