Probably once utilization of current employees ticks up. Think average at my firm for seniors is ~55% right now which is well short of the 90% goal. My guess is it’ll be a while

Yeah utilization accross the board is like 60%.not the worst but not great. Probably gonna be a while. Need more attrition. Even if there is a bounce back it would just bring up utilization.

Whenever the economy recovers for other M&A positions. I think it’s more of an attrition game in that we have enough people to staff new deals if things turns around but we dont have people leaving for jobs like IB or other exits. Not going to need to bring people on until then
I think most firms are looking to cut heads at this point. I would be very surprised if we’re hiring in the summer unless the market is extremely hot

HL is hiring although they just got a bunch that left.
You’re probably looking at Q4 2023. Summer is typically slower than Q2/Q4. Also, all the people they stiffed on giving offers in the rotation program are going to have first dibs. MM firms are still busy and hiring. Bonuses there will also be better this year and next given low utilization at Big 4.
