When does your company establish the formal targets and goals for the following year? Ours tend to drag into Q1 of the following year which is not very timely.

I don't expect our goals to be out until Q2.

Wow so late

We didn't even receive our goals until Q2 this year which made things a bit challenging.

That is annoying. Guess its more common than I thought.

Ours drag into Q1 too, start of Q2 at the absolute latest. Sometimes I think it is on purpose just to point out things that need to be caught up on. Like, well it is in the targets so now we have to figure it out, even though we missed out on a lot of time to do that.

Seems like everyone is in a similar boat.

In the past it was by end of Q1, but last year it came out by end of Jan.

Have a big interview tomorrow. The question I dread the most is about why you’re looking for a new job. The honest answer is that there isn’t enough work to go around at my agency and I want to get ahead of the inevitable layoffs. What’s the best way to tell them this? Do I just make something else up entirely?

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.
