I don't really see how that's them fearing AI. Right there in the email it mentions using Copilot (GPT-4) unless you have an approved use-case for a different one. Surely if they feared AI they would be saying something more like "all other AI use-cases are prohibited".
That email to me very much reads along the same lines as "we're blocking Discord / other chat apps, all chat must go through Teams". It's a pretty normal IT security policy.
Agreed, pretty standard policy email.
Attempting to shore up risk from the sheeple that just google any AI/ML site, product or service and start pumping company, client data into them to get a task done. That’s the risk this seems aimed at to me.
MSFT and your firm likely have an agreement and your company can get access to logs, data sent into copilot so the risk is lower using this service vs the newest girlfriend bot tossed in the ChatGPT store.
You can’t be putting your company financial data to fix your English on ChatGPT. It’s a common practice all IT Infosec or CISOs are doing. They should have ideally done this eight months.
