When you are managing a career transition with a newborn in the house, time is your most brutally constrained resource. Every 30 minutes spent stuck in "analysis paralysis" is 30 minutes stolen from sleep, your child, or an actual interview application. The math doesn't lie. Working parents: what is the one "productive" habit you had to mercilessly cut because it wasn't actually yielding results?

Time pressure forces clarity. I would cut activities that feel productive but do not actually lead to outcomes, such as over researching or endlessly rewriting the same materials.

I would be very calculative with time and use it efficiently

There is no denying that in the first 1-2 years with your first one there will be productivity impact in your job, so let that be your reality and that will help you with the stress

I had an interview w/ the Hiring Manager at Boston Consulting Group for a position and it went so well that the HM said on the spot I was going to be moving onto the next round. Its been weeks since that interview & I've had to follow up w/ the recruiter 3x asking for an update. I mentioned interviewing elsewhere but prioritizing BCG. He finally responded to that saying he was going to debrief with the HM and get back to me but nothing... what gives?

This was our convo.

Interviewer: so I’ll be paying you $15/hr if you’re hired… I’ll let you know in a week
Me (in no position to negotiate): umm… okay
*3 months later*
Interviewer: You’re hired! However it will now be an unpaid internship, are you still interested?

Hi! I have a quick question and could use some advice:

I have 1 job offer that is an hour away and pays 45k, after negotiations (Research Associate Position at a University) .

I have just interviewed for a position closer to home and a base salary of 65k, but haven’t heard back from them in about 2 days (He said he would make a decision by yesterday and I’ve reached out).
I have to decide on the first offer by Thursday but I haven’t heard back from the second yet. Thoughts on next move?

Anyone from Dropbox who can put me in touch with HR or suggest what I should do next?

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. I have a Bs in Construction Management and over 15 years experience with Revit and AutoCAD and 7 years of plumbing design. I have solid references and impeccable work ethic. I truly enjoy what I do. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.
