When you’ve somehow become the go to person for everything on your team but your title still says entry-level!
People come to you with every question, you’re helping onboard the newbies, solving problems left and right, covering shifts and yet, no title change, no raise. Just vibes and responsibilities 😂
Wild how quickly you can become the “unofficial team lead” without the recognition that should come with it.

If you’ve been there, you already know the feeling.

Honestly, that's one of the reasons I left retail when I did. I loved my job, but it seemed like I became the de facto manager without the manager pay. The manager would give me such glowing praise and kudos when really all I wanted was money.

like

Totally get that. Praise is nice but it doesn’t pay rent🙄

Yuuuuuuup I feel this to my core lol. I'm expected to do a million different jobs even though I'm only getting paid for one. And it's not because I'm some genius, super dedicated employee, there just literally is no one else who I can count on to get things done other than myself.

Being the go to person sounds great until you realize it just means more work for the same pay!

Appreciate the reminder. Staying strong with you

I don't know why this is viewed as such a bad thing. I mean, sure... it would be great to be compensated for it, but it's a huge compliment to have coworkers and supervisors naturally gravitate toward you. I love being known as the reliable one, and not because I'm paid to be.

That’s a great perspective. Being dependable is a strength but yeah recognition and fair oay should go hand in hand.

Oh, I can definitely relate. My manager used to have me act as a team lead or shadow new hires all the time, saying it would look good on my résumé. Honestly, it just felt like extra work without any extra pay.

That’s so frustrating! They always seem to “promote” you without the pay or title. Hope you get the credit you deserve soon. 🌟

I'm accepting an offer with a new company... Start in early Aug. Senior Manager role, though in this company that equates to Manager at most consulting farms. They did not had hunt me. I came to them for the job.

I have COVID delayed vacations planned for the last week in August and the first week in October.

Should I just cancel one of them? Or should I at least put both on the table and see what they say? They're going to hire me either way, but I wonder if it's a bad start to ask for both.

Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)? It seems like the larger chain stores would have more downtime, but I'm wondering if anyone could give some input.

Hi how much does a florist get paid per hour? Thanks

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.
