Back in the prehistorical days, before Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, we had a little social media site called Friendster. As I recall, you could only see your friends and your friends' friends. She had been college friends with one of my best high school friends. So I sent a message that today would be considered creepy or bot-like, but was perfectly acceptable in the naive early '00s. We've been together 21 years.

We talked for several months, my husband had died a couple years before and I lost both of my brothers within 2 months of each other. We met a few months into meeting for lunch, in August and we moved in together Dec. of 2019, we are still going strong.

I’m sorry you’ve had to endure both abuse and abandonment. 😔 I pray that you’ll find hope and joy again in relationships despite what you’ve suffered. I know what it’s like to feel abandoned and wouldn’t wish it on anyone but I also know it drew me closer to Jesus and, for that reason, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Simone Weil was absolutely right when he said - beauty and affliction are the only two things that can pierce the human heart. Sometimes God calls to us from His beauty and other times through our pain.
