Chase sapphire
I have the Alaska Airlines and American Airlines cards. Between the two I don’t pay for flights.
You’re a consultant so you’ll understand this answer: it depends.
It depends on how keen you are on maximizing your rewards (ie having and using different cards based on spend category), which issuers’ rewards fit your preferences (ie only Amex points transfer to Delta, while only Chase transfers to Hyatt, etc). It’s something you can really get into the weeds on.
If you don’t care, probably the CapOne Venture or Venture X—2 points/$ across the board.
If you do, it’s a bit more involved. Personally through my analysis (screenshot below) of my personal spend patterns and points preferences, my stack is:
Gas/Supermarkets/Non-Bonus: Amex EveryDay Preferred
Dining/Travel: Chase Sapphire Reserve
Rotating Categories: Chase Freedom Flex
Now, were I to throw CapOne and Citi into the mix, I could squeeze a bit more earnings out, but in the interest of simplicity, I probably won’t.
I like my Amex platinum a lot. 5x points on flights, 5x points at hotels through Amex travel. $15 monthly Uber credit. $200 yearly airline incidentals credit. Tons of Amex offers. And most importantly, access to Amex lounges and priority pass lounges. Delta lounges too if you’re flying Delta.

Just search this bowl or internet this topic is discussed ad nauseam for people with generic requests on travel cards.
Look at what your highest spending categories are and start with that. For example for us it was groceries (mostly instacart) and eating out. We actually did the math based on our yearly expenses and calculated # of points we would get with various cards, and compared that $ amount to the card fees. For us chase sapphire preferred ended up being the biggest bang for our buck, especially with the 1.25x redeemed points for travel booked on their portal!

Chase sapphire reserve is the gold standard imo I love it. DM me if you’d like a referral.
