Ponzi scheme. If you buy one with Hilton or Marriott, you still have to use your points to stay in place that you actually own for that week of timeshare. I don’t know why anyone would ever pay for it
OP are you a baby boomer? Seems like something people from my parents generation thought was a good idea
My parents have one. Bought for pennies on the dollar so really just the maintenance fees, so if you like going to the same place it’s good. I’ve visited their place which is insanely nice, and I’m a creature of habit, so in their particular situation I’d go for it. Normally I would not.
I don’t get got. I go get.
You got got.
It really depends no how you like to vacation. If you like going to the same place every year it could be good but I wouldn’t buy one to “trade”. I have one because it was given to me. Sometimes it feels like the gift that keeps on taking, but since it is only a three hour drive from home and right on the beach it does make for a cheap weekend getaway. It costs me less than $300 a year, so even though I only go for two or three nights I feel like it is a cheap getaway. And we often let friends use it after we are gone, or rent it out
Agree
NEVER NEVER do it. Terrible ‘investment.'
Just went to a presentation in Vegas. Horrible investment. I don't know how they sell these things. They wanted 30k, 6k down payment and 140 a month in perpetually. For 400k points which they don't actually tell you what you can get for that outside some vague numbers. I don't see how it works out for you in long term except maybe in 30.years with inflation vs points to stay but if you took that money in s and p 500 you would probably make out better.
Did not mean to come off as snippy!! Just trying to help.
please dont do it.
You can buy them for dirt cheap on the secondary market from people who regret it and dont want to pay the maintenance fees. If you get a good deal there it might, might be ok.
I agree that the secondary market is the only way to do it
