The big ones pay better, but with most of them there's a lot more to the job, internal processes are a lot and you are in most of them just a number. Small companies tend to get to know you.
Small STANDARD companies. Non standard insurance companies will operate on a far leaner budget. To include your salary. I thought I did well as a casualty adjuster making 49k pre COVID. Where I work now our fast track reps make close to that.
Some bigger fortune 100 companies are much cheaper & pay less than Mid size to smaller companies with a lot less bureaucracy.
1000000% agree. People think the biggest companies pay the best but they're so impersonal and don't actually care about compensating or treating you well. Mid-size is the way to go!
It's harder for small insurance companies to access capital. That level of stress affects overall productivity adversely.
Depends on position. I've done better in UW with mid-size commercial companies, but did better for smaller agencies that were independent as licensed account manager monetary wise. Better benefits with larger companies though.
If you want more hands on training and more attention the smaller company is the way to go. Bigger companies don’t necessarily give you that opportunity
I disagree. The best training I have ever received was when I worked for large companies. The worst, when I worked for smaller companies. There was almost no training and absolutely no formal classroom training. Pretty much every time I was thrown on deep water and had to sink or swim.
Submissions I've been receiving horrible because none of the AEs have been through a good training or know what's expected and there is very little to no accountability so that part might be good for some.
Big companies pay less and you work harder. But, they have more training and support available. Smaller companies pay better but not nearly thr support
It depends so much on the company. The only small company I worked for never gave out raises and we were extremely overworked. However, I have friends at other small companies who LOVE their jobs and work well above what some large companies pay.
Get with a small insurance company that's a stock company. Buy in, and grow your career as the company grows. Makes the most sense to me.
CINF = Dividend King !!!!
Faster pace, heavier workload, but bigger departments have more opportunity for advancement. There just aren’t that many mgmt opportunities at smaller carriers unless you’re lucky and someone leaves or retires.

I disagree with a few. Larger companies have way less workload in certain areas. Get good at the process BS and you can do your work in like 20 hours a week

I liked Hartford a lot. Never once ran into an unkind person. Travelers has been quite the opposite. I’ve experienced more yelling than any blue collar job I’ve ever worked. It’s nuts. I like the Travelers company as a whole.
It really does depend on the company and your position in it. Claims is busy either way I feel. But the pay and advancement opportunities are more available in larger companies.
Really depends on what you're looking for. Most likely higher pay at bigger companies but less face time. Smaller companies you might wear many different hats but promotion might be easier

Working in a smaller firm typically entails wearing many hats. Maybe even all of them. On the one hand, it's excellent since it exposes you to other technology and allows you to develop a diverse range of abilities. Typically, you are responsible for networking, infrastructure, servers, and so on. The disadvantage is that you may not have much assistance. You're stretched fairly thin since you're one of maybe one or two people.
That’s understandable but it seems you will have more experience and can use that to your advantage. We shall see.
