QOL has several factors. Overall, its the carrier. Similiar to a bigger city having more options and sometimes better accesses, the carrier fits this bill. However, a destroyer can definitely be better since you dont have to wait in long lines and quicker access to limited resources, similar to a rural town
Destroyers are generally the smallest vessels of the three, so they typically have the least amenities and space for crew members. Cruisers tend to have more room and more amenities for their crew, making them a better option for more comfortable living. Carriers are the largest of the three, and as such often have the most amenities and the most comfortable living quarters.
At sea, you’re pretty much busy 24/7. Carriers have more people and resources so that’s big difference. That’s has pluses and minuses as well though.
At Sea WLB, as much as there is one, is directly related to your job (aka “rate”) and whatever watch (think of it as a second job) you stand while this ship is out to sea.
Even then you’ll always be busy with drills, special evolutions or any other crisis that you can think of.
Carriers have the best qol overall, but the work environment tends to be more toxic, and when something goes wrong, you have a ton of people breathing down your neck to fix it now.
Cruisers because they have less then 3,000 people and they have a full bird O-6 captain that can command destroyers and know the DESRON Captain. If the Captain is retiring it is even better. You’ll get to see the world.
