No, my friend; you're not missing something, you're gaining wisdom. The things we live through don't change us fundamentally. They just give us new experiences that we can use to better understand the world we're living in. If you ask me that's the true path to self discovery
Possibly in your case, the type of activities you did before graduating did not differ much from the activities you do now, it is natural that you begin to notice small changes over time, but if you were already doing that type of work before enrolling it is not much of a difference.
Hi, the same thing happened to me and it was due to my job at the time, when I changed employers I saw that the career I chose to enroll in was interesting and not more of the same, I'm not inviting you to quit but I am inviting you to be open to try new things.
I can see how you might feel that way. The military can be a very transformative experience, but it doesn't always change people in the ways that we expect or assume. It's possible that you have changed in some ways, but you may not have realized it yet. Try taking some time to reflect on your experiences and see if you can identify any changes within yourself
I didn't think I was very affected either but when I came home my family said I seemed different. Nope... still just me. I think it changed the way they saw me more than it changed my perception. Like "I can't believe you did this without screwing it up," LOL
An honest question you need to ask: did you join up because you didn't think your life was important enough without a Greater Purpose? That's part of the reason I joined but it was the wrong idea. It's not like I haven't gained something from my career, obviously. But it's not all parades and revelry. At the end of the day, you're still you. Same problems and talents as before, but probably more refined.
