I know I do. I'm on salary, but I'm constantly working 50+ hours a week. My salary would be sufficient if I was working 40 max, but I feel like I'm being seriously taken advantage of. You, too?

like

It seems like you are. Maybe ask for a sit down to go over everything you do, and why it's necessary to go to hourly since your consistently working overtime due to amount of duties you cover and point out your severely underpaid when you break it down hourly, so you're not getting what you're worth and what you bring to the table is worth more.

My friend, everyone in the world thinks they’re underpaid.

like

I think this is also universally true. I get it the weeds with a silly amount of problems and start telling myself that I dont get paid enough. Im making 30k more than my buddy at the "same level". Work....

Who doesn't other then owners who think we get to much

I think I could get paid more.

I think I do….80+ hour weeks sometimes makes my paycheck not look that big

I gotta say, I had the BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT of my ENTIRE CAREER. AS a Chemist III, Quality Control doing SO MUCH. I was so excited to get an interview with a major soda bottler. I went in under the impression I would be making $23-27/Jr to start(the range they had on the job description). I did my zoom interview, was fast tracked, due to my qualifications to a all in one interview. Meaning instead of three in person interviews, I met concurrently, the same day, with HR, the Lab Manager, and finally the Plant Manager and Lab Director. They all had since very nice things to say and all of them pointed out my years of experience and their excitement to offer me a position. Well we discussed salary and they offered me $24 to start. Imagine my horror when I got there to do my paperwork and orientation they had me at $17/hr to start. With a 90 day review and then every 6 months for the first year and a half, to work my incentive to the higher pay. I was defeated, cuz I had just left a job making $21/hr. I stayed for two weeks and just couldn't handle the depressing vibe on the Lab. Worked with some brilliant minds, but with no incentive to thrive bc ur so underpaid was sickening to say the least. Sorry so long and it's sad but true.

There is an opportunity that I’m currently interviewing for that is very interesting to me. I’m interviewing two other places but I’m not responding to LinkedIn emails for other positions. The other positions don’t interest me as much. On one hand I don’t want to waste time prepping for all positions and rather put that time only for the ones that I have going on, on the other hand I feel like what is that falls through. Wondering if I’m making the right choice

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?

I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits.
