Because it's banking, not a start up - go to Silicon Valley of you want to be around creative and inspiring people

I think NYC has more creative and inspiring people in some ways. Silicon Valley had turned into a monoculture. Just get out of finance or working in a super old industry.

like

I don't know about you, but my groups meme folder is super creative

That's a very generic association for creativity

like

But in terms of creativity - it plays into how you succeed in this business. There is some creativity but the general work is very structured which either relates to the type of person that chooses it or affects all of us in the way we think (in a less flexible way).

like

Speak for yourself, I'm super original.

Probably why you work at BX

like

Well, you asked a very generic question :) Indeed, there are some inspiring people in the industry. But their experience is much more valuable than their imagination or creativity. Especially these days, when regulators are doing their best to shut down any creative ideas in banking..

You're not the first one to have that thought.

Why a lot of people can't think creatively.... http://fortune.com/2016/08/11/how-to-think-like-elon-musk/?xid=soc_socialflow_facebook_FORTUNE

Creativity = risk. To many risk averse people in this industry.

Any big pharma directors here happy to chat? I'm a postdoc and was suggested to apply to Sr/principal scientist or asso. med. dir. positions. I'd be excited for positions that straddle research & clinical trial development but job postings seem to be on either end. I want to look at data and draw decisions like go to trial or not. Need some insight on org. structure and how to go about finding a good fit? If it help, looking for north east positions. TIA!

I have been giving a few interviews lately and every Company is asking me to confirm if i can get my NP reduced from 90 Days to 45 or 60 Days. I'm still under probation but assigned to a Project already. Should I ask my Account Manager and HR about it or its unethical to do so. Am i making a mistake to ask and confirm about NP even before my offer letter or its ok to just enquire what's the process and possibility to reduce NP as we have buyout option too.

Honest question but are you able to tie your work directly back to making a difference with sustainability? Or do you feel like a lot of these roles are just optics? Asking as someone who really cares about the subject

I’ve interviewed for several positions AVP and VP roles since October of ‘21 internally with Citi. Didn’t take any of them because it would have been only $8k - $11k salary bumps. For double or even triple the work. So I’m leaving to go from $70k to $235k in September at a competing firm for a VP level role. The moral of the story: hop if you need to. No reason to stick around for low pay and not being compensated fairly by the company that expects “loyalty” from you.
