It's an awful position to be in, and it's incredibly frustrating. But you always have to keep in mind that it's always a competition. I don't mean to make light of it, but it's like those races in the Olympics where someone loses by some fraction of a second. When you get into the final rounds of competitions it gets close, and it's possible to just get edged out by someone else. You just have to keep going and keep your edge and know you'll nail the next one. That's all you can do.
I'm literally in the exact same position and it’s such a brutal spot to be in, especially after getting your hopes up repeatedly. I'm exhausted. I'll tell you what others have told me: you’re clearly doing something right if you’re making it that far, though. Maybe you're just around the corner from the “yes” that changes everything. That's what I keep telling myself
Remain encouraged! Never give up on you!! The issue is, there are 100s of not 1000s if people with similar skill sets competing for roles. If you have the time and resources use this time to continue to upskill and to don work, even if pro bono ( I know it sounds crazy ) to work to differentiate yourself in a sea of similarities. Also find ways to flex in your area of expertise… there may be a role that is reflective of a segment of your experience that can get your foot in the door.
Don’t Give Up!!
