I feel the same. It’s the first Fourth of July where I’ve felt “meh.” We are slipping from first-world status to developing-nation status all due to IQ45 and we as a nation act it as well.
I’m not as proud of this country this year as I normally always have been - and I’m a descendant of one the signees of the Declaration of Independence. I hope it changes come November 2020.
^ exactly. the US loves to boast being “developed” and rich while plenty of our citizens live on food stamps and poverty wages and are one medical bill away from bankruptcy
Born in other country came to US going throug a naturalized citizenship process now I am proud to be a part of this great nation and giving my full support to the president of the United States because no matter what he has been elected to be a president of this country through a democratic process.
D4—is spot on.
Clintons will be going to hell. Absolutely disgusting what they have done, especially to Haitians.

Nope. If I did I'd probably move to a different country.
@Associate 1- fairly certain the world was screwed far before the IS came into existence.

I’m a foreigner and yes, can safely say that every other non-American I know thinks US as the laughing stock. Unfortunately:/

EY1: you live in the US?

#3Nov2020. Do something about it between now and then
Do what exactly?
The only person I’d vote for is Jojo and no libertarian is gonna win. It’s just gonna take votes from Biden, and let trump win, and nothing changes.
Repeat of 2016.
Introduce ranked voting so we can get some real change
As an immigrant from Europe, that has been living in the US for 5+ years now, I believe you shouldn't feel like that. This is still a great country, #1 economy and military, home of great artists and scientists, both born here or immigrants. Home of the largest and many of the most transformational companies in the last two centuries. Helped Europeans to beat Nazis/fascism during WW2 and communism during Cold War. And you just gave the world MCU, LeBron, or Beyonce 😁. You have some serious problems now, as you mention, but good thing is that most people I know are working towards fixing them (and that has been your spirit since 1776 apparently, so I am sure you will get through it!). So... Happy 4th of July to everyone! You should be proud! (And, being in consulting keep the good work, please fix).
Originally from Spain, lived in Germany, Asia, and couple of years in Latin America before relocating here.

I’m usually wildly patriotic. This year I’m in the same place as you are. We have to do better.
As a US citizen with immigrant parents from South America, I find all this shit talk of the country so confusing. Some people, like yourself, will never be happy with the country and calling the US a laughingstock is ignorant. Please educate yourself on all the poverty and problems around the world.
@EM1 lol. You’re from South Africa - the West didn’t do damage to your country? Let me guess, you’re an Afrikaner 🙃

I’m with you Consultant. (Throw the fact Kanye is running for President on the list)

No. I agree with you on every point but I’m still grateful to be an American citizen. I’m an immigrant who moved here when I was a kid and can’t imagine another life. I’ve voted every election and will be voting in November to attempt to challenge status quo.
I wish people could understand the difference between being proud and being grateful for the opportunity. For trump supporters it’s like if you’re not 100% with what he wants to do then you’re a traitor and they want you to leave.
Patriotism isn’t just about loving your country when you think it’s all good and perfect. It’s about working hard to make it better.
Lol. We’re getting philosophical here. Idk the answer to that
D4 is working hard to prove Deloitte is way easier to get into than Harvard.
Presumably you’d be an even bigger failure and waste of breath than you already are.
Introspection is a part of growing and becoming stronger, individually and as a country. As a migrant, I feel America will come out of this a stronger! Happy 4th!

I know things are crazy right now but we still have a great life here compared to a lot of other places. I’m grateful for free speech, the fact that our systems work-however broken, and that we are always striving to do better as a nation. We are not perfect but working to be better.
I was with you until the always striving to do better. That hasn’t been anybody’s goal since 2016
Don’t understand everyone getting in their feelings about op feeling this way. Frankly I think it’s patriotic to be able to recognize flaws in your country and want better than to disregard all problems and be blindly nationalistic

I’m always proud of the Americans around me that I know. I agree that I’ve never been less proud of the people leading America than in 2020.
Yes, I feel the same way. And we have to choose between Trump and Biden, it’s very sad. I really wish we had better options. But I’m proud to be American citizen.
