McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

It’s all in your head bro
I do final round interviews, could care less about what university someone is from, I doubt anyone does
I came from the least fancy school you can think of, and my background + resume are anything but impressive (Experienced Hire). I’m starting soon. I was certain I didn’t get the job and actually started looking at job postings 1.5 hours after my second round interview. As I was browsing, I got a call congratulating me on getting the job. Don’t give up yet.

No fancy degree doesn’t make you less able. He might have some meetings he’s not looking forward to after the interview. You never really know. Sending good vibes your way - hopefully you’ll get it :)
I don’t think you should internalize their reaction. Can’t imagine an MBB partner being wowed or starstruck by a HYPS degree so they’d probably be just as disinterested. Theres an assemblyline of us😭.
Speaking from experience, pedigree does not gaurantee capability. Also If they were to pretend to be interested it’d probably be on something more niche—(eg former pilot, olympian, same ncaa sport, published research overlap)
I went to Penn State and am starting at McKinsey in a few weeks. Don’t sell yourself short.
A partner’s time is worth thousands of dollars per interview. They wouldn’t bother scheduling you if you weren’t a serious candidate. There’s lot of normal variance when it comes to interviewers. It’s possible that this particular guy was having an off day, or just isn’t engaged, and it’s also possible he does have a bias against your pedigree. But I also know that there’s been a lot of hiring for more specialized candidates to fill certain niches.
It’s in your head. If you get the interview, you’re capable to getting the job and it’s self selecting at that point. Furthermore, if you do your research, you’ll find that the partner is supposed to be difficult behaviorally with the candidate to see how they perform under pressure. Back in the day I screwed up my McKinsey interviews thinking like you!
This is surely a bait
I’m of similar pedigree, had same feeling leaving my final and they extended offer and found the interviewer liked me a lot. Was told he was just trying to stonewall a bit to see how I handle uncomfortable situations

Congratulations!!
No fancy degree (a 2:2 from an ok UK university) no MBA, working class background. Got in just fine.
Nice job? 2:2 though? Isn’t a 2:1 required for generalist track? Or did you have mitigating circumstances? Asking for a family member (at BCG you need a 2:1).
Okay thanks - good luck!
