Folks flocked to the suburbia to get those big houses. Now with the back to office dictats there will be some reconciliation with folks wanting to get closer to their workplaces.

If back to work mandate is real then clearly yes demand will rise in areas where in person office work is high.

Question is- is the back to work mandate real?

Moment economy turns and people have more options, you’ll see more flexibility. Smart companies will have more flexibility all of sudden

Right now the enforcements are happening as labor market tightens.

If I finish my MBA with extra loan money, should I pay it back to reduce the principal? Or invest it into the market? From my perspective it seems like it makes more sense to invest since the market is likely to generate more than my current loan rate. Although having debt also provokes some anxiety.

For those of you who got out at 10, do you wish that you rode it out to 20? I’m at a crossroad and I’m not sure what to do. Have some active/reserve time, wrapping up graduate school, and am now considering either a) come back to the business world or b) go active and retire before 50 and live off a nice pension. Obviously there are draws to both. I’m an officer for what it’s worth so I can realistically retire at O-5, MAYBE O-6.

Amex Platinum Users - How does “no preset spending limit” get reported to the credit bureaus? Just got approved and 6 months ago my credit was around 580 so this is a huge achievement for me, but I’m also obsessed with maintaining my credit score now. One of my friends, he made a switch just 6 months back hoping he would get a better work environment a better package, but now he is just frustrated with the working environment, being a backend developer he has been asked to just fix bugs for almost 5 months now and that too in javascript without any KTs or any other trainings when he clearly did mention in the interview that he does not have prior knowledge on javascript.

Due to a family situation we are looking to move to a different state. Normally we would sell our current home and buy a new home in our new location. However, with todays prices and interest, will it make more sense to rent out our current home and rent a home ourselves vs. selling and buying immediately when we move? Under contract to buy my first home - house hacking a triplex. Property has been leased by the same three tenants for the last 5+ yrs, rents haven’t been raised since they moved in. Market rents have risen 70-100% in the same timeframe. All seem like ideal tenants (retired and take great care of the units) but I’d like advice on how to approach the rent increase conversation. Rents don’t make/break my mortgage payment but I’m leaving a lot on the table if I don’t increase significantly.

From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

The value is now over 400K and I have an equity of over 150K.
