Lol yeah a tariff on offshoring would shake things up, probably not in a way the big firms would love, but hey, it’d be nice to see more jobs stay local. Though, I can already hear the partners clutching their chests at the thought. Bold idea lol
It would be helpful if more roles and not just accounting were not offshored. Maybe more U.S. citizens would have any easier time when starting in their career and eventually advancing. This would also apply to large corporations that open offices in Europe and India.
I've said this so many times. SO. MUCH.
Also, I don't see this heavily affecting firms other than Big4 and possibly BDO/RSM. It'd definitely raise the market rates and affect industrywide. But I think immediate pains will be on those using offshore instead of tech.
Not saying my firm is using tons of tech, but we are not using tons of offshore to keep ourselves afloat.
