I haven't noticed any changes here. But then again, I do live in a state where salary transparency laws haven't been passed, so what do I know? If I had to guess, I'd assume these laws are toothless and companies are exploiting loopholes to continue lowballing to the best of their abilities.

Yeah, I get the skepticism. Companies will always find ways to game the system, especially when money's involved. And you're right that in states without these laws, it's still pretty opaque.
My sense of it is that companies comply with those laws by posting salary ranges which are so broad that a job seeker receives no useful information. As to whether those laws have impacted salaries, I'd be skeptical of that. What seems to be impacting salaries is the lousy job market, which tends to push salaries downward.

Yeah, I totally get the cynicism—companies are masters at finding ways to technically comply while still keeping things as vague as possible. Broad ranges like $80k–$180k for a mid-level role feel pretty useless when you're trying to figure out if it's worth applying.
On the salary impact side, you're spot on about the job market being the bigger driver right now. Tech (and a lot of white-collar fields) has been rough—layoffs, slower hiring, postings way down from pre-2020 levels—and that's definitely capping or even pulling salaries downward in many spots. Transparency laws help with fairness and negotiation power, but they don't magically create demand when the market's soft.
